My name is Paul Beverage and I will be your child’s 5th grade teacher this year. I am looking forward to working with you and your child!
I have 13 years of experience teaching 4th and 5th grade. For the past four years, I have been working at the District office overseeing Title I programs. In addition to teaching, my background includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Sri Lanka, directing adult literacy programs in Minneapolis, and three years as an elementary principal. I also led a Writing and Literacy cohort in my previous district.
In addition I have a great family. My wife Eden is an educator and we have two children, our daughter Aliza who is studying astrophysics at the University of MN and our son Nathan who is in 11th grade at St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Arts and studies Jazz Piano. Outside of school I enjoy trail running, biking, swimming and strength training. I also enjoy reading, wood block print making, and going to movies.
As a fifth grader, your child will be taking on more responsibility. We are partners in this process. In order for us to have a successful year, I believe it is essential that we communicate. So, please feel free to come by, call, or email me anytime you have questions or concerns.
I encourage you to get involved in your child’s learning. Each week I will share questions you can ask your child about the different subjects in class. I also welcome you to volunteer in the classroom.
This is a big year for your 5th grader as she/he prepares for middle school. I look forward to working with you to make sure your child is academically and socially prepared for this transition. Please contact me if you have any questions.
