Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!

Hello Northrop Students, Families and Community,

I am so excited to welcome you to our new school year!  Your teachers and I hope you have enjoyed fun times with family and friends this summer.  We can't wait to hear about your adventures in just a couple weeks!

Between now and the first day of school our teachers and building staff will be busy preparing for your arrival.  All of our teachers and building staff will be participating in professional development and the construction of our new kitchen and lunchroom will continue to move ahead.  We are looking forward to the new school year filled with reading, math, writing, science, social students, social emotional learning, and outdoor learning activities.

As I begin my second year as Northrop's Principal I am excited to serve as our school community's "Lead Learner."  I am committed to continuous growth and improvement of our school to best meet the needs of all of our learners and families.  I have been dedicated to the field of education for fifteen years with concentration in literacy, environmental education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education, differentiation, and standards-based grading.  I am thrilled to bring my skills as an instructional leader to Northrop Community School and Minneapolis Public Schools and to partner with students, staff, parents, and our community to ensure each child's success.

As your Northrop Principal, it is important to me that everyone who enters our building feels welcome, positive, and excited to be here.  These beliefs will enable us to meet the challenges of academic excellence.  I welcome the opportunity to talk with you and to seek your input and feedback.  Please feel free to stop in, call, or email me to discuss any ideas, suggestions, or concerns to help make this year the best year yet!
